Grade I Deserve

The grade I think I should get is like a B because i did most of my blogs for this blog check. I think I did a lot better with getting my blogs completed.

Favorite Earth Science Topics

Geology-In this section of the book, I liked the minerals. The thing I liked about minerals is the different types like diamonds,quarts, and feldspar. I also liked how they were formed; there are four major processes by which they form.

Atmosphere- The one thing I really liked about the atmosphere was the clouds. This was my most favorite because I learned a lot about the different types of clouds and the kind of weather and temperature it brings. My favorite cloud is the cirrus cloud.

Oceanography-The part of this topic that i like the most was the ocean floor. I liked this part because it talks about measuring the sea floor and the features of the ocean floor. Also I like that it tells about what's one the ocean floor.

Astronomy-The part I love about this is learning about the plantes and whats in the solar system. I enjoyed learning about the planets and what type of planets they are (Terrestrial or Jovian). I also enjoyed learning about the different type of things in the solar system.

The percentage of stars that are sequence stars is 90%

The Sun will turn into a Red Giant. This will happen billions of years into the future.

The ones on the left are the hottest; the ones on the right are the coolest. The ones on the bottom are dim; the ones on the top are the brightest.

1. What 3 factors effect wind?



The 3 factors that effect wind are the Coriolis effect, Friction, and Pressure gradient force.



2. Which of the 3 do you think has the greatest effect? Why?

The Coriolis effest has the greates effect because it's the reason nothing falls straight down.



3. What would happen if this factor (from #2) all of a sudden stopped? Remember to include details about what might happen in your response.

If it were to all of a sudden stop then everything wouldnt curve on Earth. Everything on Earth would just fall straight down like an airplane in the sky if the Coriolis Effect jut all of a sudden stop.

Greenhouse Effect

What is the greenhouse effect?

The greenhouse effect is when earth's atmosphere traps solar raditaion allowing sunlight to pass through absorbing heat radiated back from the earth's surface.

What are the 3 most common greenhouse gases?

The 3 most common greenhouse gases are carbon dioxide, methane, water vapor, plus nitrous oxide.

How are the greenhouse gases produced?

Many of the gases occur naturally.

How does the greenhouse effect impact our lives?

It impacts our lives because if we didnt't have it we would die

Is the greenhouse effect good or bad? Why?

The greenhouse effect is a good thing because it keeps everything on Earth alive.

What is offshore drilling? Offshore drilling is the drilling of oil.


Why is it good? It's good because it saves money and energy.


Why is it bad? It's bad because it messes up the environment.


How do you feel about it? I feel that it's a bad idea because of the damage it does to the evironment.

My Final Grade

Honestly for my final grade in this class for my blogs, i would say i earned a D. I say that because I either turn my work in late, incomplete, or i dont turn it in at all. I'm not up to date on any of them or I think maybe on one of them. My spelling and grammar isn't a problem in any of my blogs.

Okmok

The Okmok volcano is located in Alaska. The elevation of the Okmok volcano is about 7,000 ft. The photos on the right are recent, taken on July 24,2008.

The Okmok volcano is one of many Aleutian volcanoes.

Recent Disasters

1. The two articles i read about were Earthquakes hit Japan and Indonesia, but no tsunami

2. The first article was about how different earthquakes hit the coastal part of japan and indonesia, but there were no damaging waves or reports of damage or casualties.

3. The second article was about how the center of an earthquake was said to be in the middle of Iran's southern port city Bandar, Khamir, and Queshm island. The earthquake killed 4 people and wounded 34.

4. The disaster that was most disasterous was the one in Iran's southern port city.

5. The thing that is alike about the two disasters is that they both hit aras thet were either nera or surrounded by water. The difference between the two is that the first one did not really damage anything, but the second one wounded and killed people.
